Rural fairs receive funding boost

Rural fairs are receiving another year of funding as a second year of cancelled events and exhibits is causing a financial squeeze for many associations.

Ontario agriculture and horticulture societies will get just over $1-million dollars in provincial funding to offset revenue due to cancelled fairs and events.

The funding will province up to $5,000 for each eligible agriculture society, and up to $1,500 for eligible horticulture societies, equal to 2019 grants to offset membership losses, revenue and meet immediate financial needs.

The funds are in addition to $5-Million announced in January to support societies impacted by events cancelled in 2020.
