Chatham Daycare Deal A Possibility

Chatham-Kent officials have found a private operator for one of its two daycares.

A total of five companies submitted proposals to operate the May Court Childcare Learning Centre in Chatham.

Of the four that met the criteria, Growing Together Family Resource Centre got the thumbs up from administration.

If approved by council Monday night, negotiations could move forward with the contract, which is set to start two days before Christmas.

Earlier this year, in an effort to save $1.4-million, the municipality also announced it was closing the Wallaceburg Childcare Learning Centre, for which it still needs to find an operator.
