Proposed Marijuana Growing Regulations Considered

A special meeting of Lakeshore Council today could end with a decision on regulations for marijuana growing facilities in the town.

Several public meetings have been well attended, mostly by people looking for stricter regulations on the proposed businesses.

Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain says most residents don't have concerns with the growing of marijuana. "Their concerns are in the production end, where there could be noise and dust. Also transportation concerns with traffic in and out."

CEN Biotech has opposed the suggested zoning regulations. The company is waiting for Health Canada approval to begin growing and processing marijuana at its Manning Rd. facility.
