RCMP Seize Contraband Tobacco

Five Windsor residents face a slew of charges after Royal Canadian Mounted Police executed search warrants in two homes this week.

On Wednesday, RCMP went to two residences located on the 3900-block of Maple Leaf Cres. and the 700-block of Vanier St. in Windsor. They seized approximately 1,145 cartons of contraband tobacco, as well as $2,000 in cash. They also seized a 2010 Honda Civic from one of the residences.

Now Abdallah Al-Latif, 49, Zeinab Al-Asadi, 38, Mohammed Al-Latif, 20, Alqasim Al-Latif, 19, and Adnan Mansuri, 48, all face charges of unlawfully possessing unstamped tobacco for sale and possession of proceeds of crime. Alqasim Al-Latif also faces a charge of obstruction.

They've been released pending a future court date on December 22 2014.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
