New Councillors Get Trained

Six newcomers to Chatham-Kent Council are preparing for their first council meeting on December 8.

The new councillors attended a special meeting to get familiarized with the procedures and policies that rule in council chambers. New Ward 6 Councillor Brock McGregor admits there's going to be a learning curve. "There's a lot to catch up on before that time. So really, all we've gone over so far has been the nitty gritty, the procedures."

Fellow newcomer Darrin Canniff agrees, but adds there was plenty of positivity in the room. "There was a real sense of optimism in the room," says Canniff. "Everyone was excited about the future and everyone believes in Chatham-Kent."

New councillors will be sworn in on December 1.
