Flapjacks Helping Sledge Hockey

Sledge hockey in the region is set for a boost.

The Windsor Ice Bullets Sledge Hockey Team is benefiting from the 1000th Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser in the city this morning.

"There are a few benefits to being number 1,000," says Jenny Rivers, president of the Ice Bullets. "In that they would be donating a $1,000 to our organization and there would be no cost for the food, so all of our ticket sales would be pure profit for us."

Rivers calls the funding critical in continuing to give the hockey experience to kids and adults with disabilities from across Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

"I can't have a kid arrive at the arena wanting to try to become a hockey player and not have a sled," says Rivers. "So it's critical that we have sleds."
