Freezing Conditions On The Way

Despite above freezing temperatures expected over the next three days, Environment Canada has announced a freezing rain warning for Chatham-Kent and Windsor Essex.

Peter Kimbell expects the freezing rain to arrive tomorrow morning with an eventual expected high around 5 C (41 F). Despite the above freezing temperatures, Kimbell says take extra caution.

"Even if the rain arrives after the air temperature is already up to 1 C (34 F) or even 0.5 C (33 F), the ground is so cold, it's been so cold for a little while, it's going to freeze anyways, it's going to be icy," says Kimbell. "If they put salt on the roads, the sidewalks will be icy, so people will need to be careful regardless."

Kimbell adds mild temperatures will stick around until Monday night before we head back into another deep freeze.
