University's Downtown Plans Approved

The University of Windsor's expansion plans have received the final seal of approval.

The old Tunnel BBQ and the former Windsor Armouries will be transformed into the new School of Creative Arts. The $12.8-million building will house studios and suites for media and film, metal and woodworking, printmaking and digital fabrication.

The overall $75-million plan also includes developing the old Windsor Star building, Chatham Street Parkette and former Greyhound bus depot into the School of Social Work and the Centre for Executive and Professional Education.

Construction is slated to start early next year and should be finished by the summer of 2016.
