Jobless Rate Inches Upwards Locally

Following the loss of 10,700 net jobs across Canada last month, the unemployment rate inched upwards nationally, provincially and in Windsor.

Windsor's unemployment rate rose to 9%, up from 8.9% in October. In London, the rate rose to 7.8%. It was 7.5% in October.

Statistics Canada says Ontario lost 34,000 jobs in November pushing the jobless rate up a half percent to 7%.

The loss of jobs across the country follows two months of strong gains this fall. In September, the economy created 73,100 jobs, 43,100 in October.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
