Time Shortening For Thamesville Bridge

It may not be scheduled for maintenance until 2019, but the Thamesville Bridge is deteriorating fast.

That's why Chatham-Kent Council quickly approved consultation from Kitchener's AECOM company at the cost of $440,000.

"It's one of maybe two in all of Ontario [that's] a specialty bridge," says Ward 3 Councillor Steve Pinsonneault. "We don't have the expertise in house to do the engineering anyway, we'd have to get a consultant for this job."

Pinsonneault adds the bridge is a major artery of traffic in the area, and will push to have one lane open during construction.
