The Kings jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first period, but Essex went 4-for-4 on the powerplay to rally for the win.
Phil Janikowski scored twice for the 73's including the game winner, while Macks Holmes had a goal and two assists for Dresden.
Essex is off until Friday when they take on Alvinston. Dresden is also back on the ice on Friday when they host Mooretown.
