Fundraising For New Animal Shelter

Chatham-Kent will start taking measures to get financing in place for a new animal shelter.

A fundraising committee is being formed including former Chatham-Kent councillors Marjorie Crew and Art Stirling.

OSPCA Branch Manager Kim Sonneveld says there are challenges with the current facility on Park Ave. E in Chatham.

"The setup of the current building doesn't suit what we currently need," says Sonneveld. "There are tiny little rooms everywhere...we could use the space a lot better."

Sonneveld adds the quick approval of this initiative from Chatham-Kent and its council is encouraging.
