Weighing In On Peters Election

Gary Peters being elected as Michigan's new senator is expected to improve Windsor's, and Ontario's, relationship with the state.

That's according to Windsor West MP and NDP Border Critic Brian Masse, who says he's worked with the democrat, as a congressman, many times in the past. "We worked together to try to get a bike lane on the bridge. To get ferry service (between Windsor and Detroit) is something we've worked on together. So we'll be pushing those issues again."

Masse says Peters is a strong supporter of the DRIC project, and is going to fight to secure bridge plaza funding on the US side.

He believes the senator-elect understands the connection between our two countries, and the need for both economies to succeed in order for Michigan and Ontario to reach their full potential.
