Chatham Condo Subcontractor Not Worried

The president of the company in charge of concrete work at the downtown Chatham condo project fully expects work to resume in March.

Joe Liberatore says he's only heard from the developer once. "On the 23rd (of December) I got notification as to he (developer Victor Boutin) would be shutting the job down for the winter," says Liberatore. "Specifically we were told January and February to anticipate, that is the only communication we have had to date." Con-Wall Concrete out of London is handling the form work and concrete placing.

When asked about the price of pouring concrete in the winter, Liberatore says it increases the cost by 25% because the concrete has to be heated to cure.

Everlast Group President Victor Boutin told BlackburnNews.com yesterday he was pulling the plug on the project because he wasn't happy with workers provided by the union and wanted them off his back.
