Budget Time Approaches

Chatham-Kent has announced its series of Budget Open Houses for 2015.

They'll take place from Tuesday, January 27 to Thursday, January 29, after the draft budget is presented on January 20.

Budget Chair Derek Robertson isn't concerned a number of councillors will be working through their first budget. "We have a lot of very intelligent people on this council. I'm very encouraged by the composition overall, and by the energy and fervor. I think ultimately that will lead to a very fruitful budget process."

Here's a full list of all budget meetings that are open to the public.

Tuesday, January 27  4:30pm-6pm Brief presentation made at 5pm Dresden Arena, 1212 North Street, Dresden

Wednesday, January 28  4:30pm-6pm Brief presentation made at 5pm St. Michael s Parish Hall, 26 George Street, Ridgetown

Thursday, January 29  4:30pm-6pm Brief presentation made at 5pm Active Lifestyle Centre, 20 Merritt Ave., Chatham

Budget Committee deliberations:

February 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 from 6pm-10pm

Council Chambers, 2nd floor, Chatham-Kent Civic Centre

Written and verbal presentations of up to five minutes are welcome at the end of each evening (9pm), with sign-up at the door.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
