Windsor's mayor isn't opposed to the idea of free booze at Caesars Windsor to attract U.S. gamblers.
But Drew Dilkens says he's more focused on bringing single-game sports betting to this side of the border. "I think a little differently than my counterpart in Niagara Falls," says Dilkens. "I think we would be far more strategic and it would provide far more bang for the investment of time and energy focusing on single-sports betting and making that a reality for casinos across Canada."
After hearing the Niagara Falls mayor's call for free booze at casinos to attract Americans, Dilkens says there may be some problems with that. "I don't see that free alcohol would actually provide a huge boost to tourism in this area," says Dilkens. "It certainly would provide a huge additional cost to the casino operator and it may attract the type of folks we hope not to attract."
When the issue of single-sports comes back up for government debate, Dilkens says he will lobby in favour of the change.
