Target's impending closure in Chatham isn't expected to have a significant impact on the stores around it.
That's according to the president of the company that owns the Thames Lea Plaza, where Target is located. Brad-Lea Meadows President Dean Bradley says his first thought is for the employees who will be affected.
"Because Target so poorly performed in terms of attracting shoppers to their stores, the actual impact in terms of traffic on the other retailers is probably not that significant," says Bradley. "They've had to operate with a small trickle of customers since they opened, so in that sense, the immediate impact won't be that dramatic, I don't think."
Bradley says his company is keeping its options open as it looks to fill the void that will be left behind when Target closes.
