CCAC Facing Possible Strike

The Erie St. Clair Community Care Access Centre could be faced with a strike by the end of the month after mediation efforts broke down.

Vicki McKenna with the Ontario Nurses Association says employees could be in a legal strike position Jan. 30.

"They are asking what we believe to be normative wage increases to keep up with their counterparts," she says. "We are left with no alternative. This sector is a right to strike sector, they don't have binding arbitration."

McKenna says equivalent workers in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities and public health units received increases in the range of 1.4%.
