Council Doesn't Want Tax Increase

Less than 24 hours before seeing the 2015 budget, council has asked administration to work towards a version with a 0% tax increase.

Councillor Doug Sulman brought the motion forward, which passed by a slim 10-7 vote.

Sulman says this comes back to what voters said at election time. "I'm quite gratified that council supported that motion. It's just keeping with what the public wants, and what they told us in the last election campaign. Those who voted against it, didn't listen to the public and it's time that we do."

The 2015 Chatham-Kent budget is to be released at a meeting tonight at 6pm.
