Argument Leads To Charges

A man and woman are facing charges following a domestic incident in Chatham.

Police say the couple started arguing around 12:30pm on Thursday. The man was using the woman's phone but refused to return it when she asked for it back.

The argument escalated and the woman slapped the man in the face -- both were taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed the 26-year-old woman from Chatham had a previous domestic violence incident. She was charged with assault and released with a future court date.

The 29-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft, assault, and uttering threats. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
