Father Charged In Toddler's Death

A 27-year-old Sarnia man faces criminal charges in a tragic crash that claimed the life of his 2-year-old daughter.

The Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police says Daniel Crockford was arrested Thursday and charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and criminal negligence causing death.

Police say he was the driver in a single-vehicle rollover just before 9pm on December 13, 2014 in the westbound lanes of Hwy. 402, west of Oil Heritage Rd.

2-year-old Faith Crockford-Vandermeer of Corunna died in the crash. Crockford-Vandermeer and a 27-year-old passenger, Leilani Williams of Sarnia, were ejected from the vehicle.

Williams and Crockford suffered non-life threatening injuries while a fourth occupant of the vehicle, 4-year-old Leona Williams, was not hurt.

Crockford appeared in Sarnia court on Thursday and is set to appear again March 9, 2015.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
