Fatal Fire Believed To Have Started In Kitchen

Damage is estimated at $250,000 following a fatal housing unit fire in St Clair Township between Courtright and Oil Springs Lines early Wednesday morning.

Smoke and flames were pouring out of the windows when volunteer firefighters arrived on scene in the 1700-block of the St Clair Parkway at 2:30am.

Fire Chief Walt Anderson says it appears the fire started in the kitchen of one of the apartments in the two storey structure.

A post mortem was conducted on the person who died, three young men were injured.

The Ontario Fire Marshal remained on scene Thursday investigating.
