High Jump Returns

High jump is back as a sport at the Lambton Kent District School Board.

Director of Education Jim Costello says having Olympic high jump coach Joel Skinner in the fold is a big part of the reason why.

"Joel is a teacher in our system and he's a nationally certified high jump coach and we've done a number of after school workshops for both secondary teachers and elementary teachers and that has allowed us to reinstate high jump," says Costello.

Skinner teaches in Sarnia and is the high jump coach of Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Derek Drouin.

High jump was reinstated at the beginning of the school year in September after safety concerns had the sport put on hiatus for the last two years.
