Hazardous Winter Conditions

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

A winter storm system is expected to hit the area early Sunday morning with 20-30 cm (8-12 in) of snowfall expected before Monday morning.

As well, Environment Canada Meteorologist Desjanelle Matthews says winds will become gusty Sunday afternoon, reducing visibility to less than 0.5 km in blowing snow.

"People should take caution and take their time [on the road]. And if you don't really have to go anywhere, maybe stay home. It's a Sunday," says Matthews.

The weather agency says winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
