Early Infrastructure Cuts Deferred

Proposed cuts to the Chatham-Kent budget have come quickly, but no reductions have been approved yet.

Councillor Trevor Thompson has asked that $2.5-million come out of the infrastructure lifecycle reserve. But that decision is now deferred until the committee hears infrastructure presentations from staff.

Councillor Karen Herman first proposed the need for more information, and says it's too early in the process for drastic reductions. "We need to take the time to let them hear the information and just do a little more homework. We can't come out the gate and make a decision without that. Let's take our time, let's do it right."

Along with the infrastructure reductions, Thompson also asked $400,000 be cut from Chatham-Kent Human Resources.
