Argument Escalates Into An Assault

An 18-year-old man is facing multiple assault charges after police responded to a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

Police say the man pushed his common-law girlfriend to the floor last night, spit on her, and broke her alarm clock after they were arguing.

Officers say when they arrived at the home, the man didn't co-operate with officers and spit towards the woman again while he was being arrested. After that, the man's girlfriend told police he had assaulted her in the past as well.

An 18-year-old Chatham man is now charged with four counts of assault, one count of mischief, and one count of resisting arrest.
