Driver Blows Double Legal Limit

A Chatham man faces drunk driving charges after a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

Police say they stopped a car around William St. S and Witherspoon St. after it had driven into a snow bank.

After allegedly smelling alcohol on the driver's breath, he was placed under arrest. The suspect registered a blood alcohol level more than double the legal limit after conducting breathalyzer tests at Chatham-Kent police headquarters.

A 28-year-old Chatham man is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He's been released with a future court date.
