Extreme Cold Warnings Continue

An extreme cold warning still remains in effect for all of southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says the bitterly cold Arctic air combined with gusty north winds is resulting in extreme wind chill values of -30 C (-22 F) to -35 C (-31 F).

The winds are expected to remain in the 20-50 km/h range through the evening.

The weather agency is advising the public to exercise extreme caution while outdoors in this hazardous situation. Frostbite on exposed skin may occur in just a few minutes.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
