Weekend Spree Ends With Charges

A 27-year-old Blenheim man is in custody facing a string of charges after a night-long spree in a car he doesn't own.

Chatham-Kent police say a Harwich man stopped to give a ride to a friend around 2pm Sunday, but the friend refused to leave the vehicle, forced himself into the driver's seat and drove around for much of the night.

Police say the suspect forced the victim to withdraw cash from various ATMs but the victim escaped when the suspect stopped to use a restroom.

Police located the suspect yesterday morning and he is now charged with forcible confinement, two counts of robbery, assault and operating a motor vehicle while disqualified.
