Phone Call Tips Off Police

A 28-year-old Orford Township man is facing three counts of assault after an argument over money sparked an incident of domestic violence.

Police say the man was arguing about finances with his common-law spouse when he started assaulting her.

A family member called the woman during the incident, heard the commotion over the phone, and managed to contact police.

When officers arrived, the woman told them that the accused had also assaulted her in the past. He has been taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
