LHIN Enacting Strategic Plan

The Erie St. Clair LHIN is starting to take steps to finalize and implement its strategic plan.

Staff say they want to focus on integrated and co-ordinated, patient-centred care. They also hope to put an emphasis on looking out for the most vulnerable members of the community, particularly the elderly.

LHIN CEO Gary Switzer says they hope to encourage individuals like stroke patients to look into services outside of area hospitals. "When we looked at 20 patients at one of our hospitals that were discharged, 19 didn't go see their family doctor. That one person did go back and got put on the clinical path we've laid out in all three counties, for the best care for a stroke patient."

The strategic plan is also being developed in tandem with their business plan, to be completed by July.
