CKHA Believes Wait Times Reasonable

Despite increased emergency room wait times at the CKHA, administration feels wait times are still perfectly reasonable.

Without the recent rush of patients during March Break, patients are usually waiting in the Chatham emergency room for 10-11 hours.

But President and CEO Colin Patey says they still get complaints, because we live in what he calls an immediate gratification society. "That's why we have so many drive-thrus for food, and I think people have a similar expectation for their healthcare. To make it on demand and as fast as we possibly can."

Patey says the CKHA's wait times are 66% shorter than the provincial average.
