OHL Hungry Fans Attend Practice

Chatham-Kent hockey fans got a taste of what having an OHL team would be like Wednesday.

The Sarnia Sting held practice in the Chatham Memorial Arena as part of a practice tour to garner support for the Junior A club.

Young Blenheim hockey player Alec Webster says it would be great to have a team of their own, but points out Chatham's main obstacle. "My team's played at Memorial Arena before. It's alright for us but it's pretty small for them."

Chatham's Rob Cummings took in the practice with his two children. He says it's a pleasure to have the team in their own backyard. "It's a great treat for our younger hockey. My younger son plays and it's something to put a little effort into as a minor hockey player. It's great for the community."

Cummings adds events like this promote a passion for the game in younger fans.
