Cops Arrest Alleged Copper Thief

A London woman faces charges after an incident at a communications tower site near Chatham.

Police say on Saturday around 8am, they attended the site on Fairview Line to find someone had cut a hole in the chain link fence surrounding the property. Wire was also removed from a pillar. Damages is estimated at $350.

Police say they found someone hiding nearby with a duffel bag full of copper and a pair of bolt cutters.

A 27-year-old woman from London has since been charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
