Man Injured In Wallaceburg House Fire

One person has been taken to hospital following a house fire in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services says on Thursday around 7:20pm, firefighters were called to the home at 119 Duke St. and fought the fire for several hours. The blaze reportedly was caused by a cooking accident.

The homeowner was the only person home at the time of the fire and he had to be taken to hospital to be treated for moderate burns.

Fire officials peg damage to the home at around $130,000.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
