High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Chatham-Kent has been picked as a finalist in the Kraft Hockeyville Contest.
During Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday, Chatham’s Memorial Arena was selected to go up against Panorama Recreation Centre Arena in North Saanich, British Columbia.  Both communities will receive $100,000 for arena upgrades, and now have the chance of hosting an NHL preseason game.
Anyone can vote online until 11:59pm on March 30 to decide which community will host the the preseason game.
