Thompsons Expands Grain Handling

Thompsons Limited is growing with the purchase of a grain elevator operation in Rannoch near St. Marys.

Thompsons President Dawn Betancourt says Rannoch Grains can hold about 900,000 bushels of grain and most of the equipment is relatively new so it is a good fit for the company.

"We will take possession of it on the first of July," she says. "Obviously that's very close to wheat harvest season so we'll be taking wheat and then obviously corn and beans in the fall."

Thompsons has a facility in nearby Granton and staff there will handle the buying and marketing of grain, and other products.
