Plea For Healthy Food Donations

The Salvation Army of Chatham-Kent is gearing up to ensure every plate is full this summer.

Captain Stephanie Watkinson says the campaign begins next month and the organization is pushing for healthy food donations to food banks.

"A lot of the clients that are accessing the food bank are either skipping meals or not eating proper nutrition," says Watkinson. "So if we can provide not only food for them, but nutritious food, then that will help them even more."

She stresses students aren't able to take advantage of school nutrition programs during the summer, meaning families using the food banks have an even greater need.
