Sports Fields Need Upkeep

Crews won't have much time to prepare baseball diamonds and soccer fields for the summer this year.

Officials are asking the public not to use area sports fields just yet, as this could cause damages and possible closures.

Parks Supervisor Deb Veccia says officials have seen a large amount of moisture accumulation from the winter months. "Any of our open green space or sports fields are very saturated. And what that does for us is it slows us down for trying to get on the field."

Veccia projects area sports fields to be ready for use by May 5.
