The weather agency says meteorologists were tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, hail and heavy rain.
A rainfall warning has also been cancelled.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
The annual Canada Day parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, from Wildwood Park to Kenwick Park.
