Run Season Set To Kick-Off

With the unofficial start to the local running season set to get underway organizers are encouraging the public to get involved.

Doug Robbins is race director for the Maple City Mile run group. He says the goal is to get people active.

"Trying to become a healthier community," says Robbins. "We have such a huge amount of obesity and heart disease in Chatham-Kent that taking that first step and feeling comfortable or feeling that you can get some support from a run group or a local race, really can help make a difference in someone's life." He adds that a total of approximately 5,000 runners took part in the nine-races they hosted last year.

Robbins expects 300 runners to take part in the unofficial kick-off to the Run CK race series tonight at Club Lentinas in Chatham for the Neon Nights 5K fun run and walk at 7:30pm.
