Woman Assaulted And Robbed

Leamington OPP officers are searching for a suspect after a woman from Wheatley was robbed Saturday night.

Around 8pm, police say a 37-year-old woman was travelling on Talbot St. E when she recognized a man she knew.

Thinking he was hitchhiking, the woman pulled over to offer him a ride. That's when police say the suspect reached in and grabbed her wallet on the front seat.

A struggle ensued, and the woman was struck in the face before the suspect took off. She was not seriously injured. Now police are searching for a 24-year-old Leamington man.
