Walmart Shoplifting Suspect Breaches Bail

A shoplifting complaint at the Chatham Walmart has also resulted in drug charges.

Store officials say the suspect removed a bottle of cologne and perfume from their packages, placed them in his front pocket, and left the store yesterday afternoon. The 28-year-old was taken into custody in the parking lot and police recovered the goods, valued at approximately $140.

Police say they also found some marijuana on the suspect, who's out on bail with conditions not to possess illegal drugs.

The Orford Township man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, failing to comply, and drug possession. He's being held for a bail hearing.
