OPP Sees Boating Interest

The Essex County OPP says a warm weekend may have triggered some activity of an unwelcome kind as thieves started targeting boats.

Sometime Friday or Saturday, fish rods, reels and a tackle box were stolen from a truck on County Rd. 50 in Kingsville and a number of items were stolen from four boats at Cedar Island Marina.

Enforcement started in a big way on the weekend too as Essex OPP and Ministry of Natural Resources conducted patrols of the Detroit River.

They combined to lay 18 charges under the Canada Shipping Act, the Fish and Wildlife Act and the Liquor Licence Act.
