Council Size Remains Unchanged

There aren't any changes coming to Chatham-Kent Council's size or ward boundaries any time soon.

Councillors voted down a request to re-evaluate the existing system made by Ward 6's Derek Robertson.

Councillor Robertson was visibly upset that council turned down what he believes to be a priority. "We ignored the tough decisions as it relates to municipal governance. Then we decide we're going to lean out the municipality's administration while we won't even look internally at ourselves."

The decision followed an hour-long presentation and forum about ward representation and population. Council and ward sizes have remained unchanged since amalgamation.
