Walpole Ferry Hikes Passenger Rate

Starting today, you'll have to pay more to cross the St. Clair River via the Walpole Island-Algonac Ferry.

One-way fare for passenger traffic on that ferry line is going up from $7 to $10.

Shortly after Walpole Island Band Council took over operations from the Dean family in 2013, the fare went up from $6 to $7 for a one-way trip.

The service's boats make about 13,000 trips across the St. Clair River each year.
