Erratic Driving Leads To Charges

Driving erratically has led to drug and impaired driving charges for a Chatham man.

Last night around 11pm, a Chatham-Kent police officer saw a vehicle make a very slow and very wide right turn from King St. onto Third St.

Police allege the vehicle then drove over the bridge weaving back and forth, so the officer pulled the man over.

During a search, the officer found marijuana on the driver, and the officer believed he was under the influence of drugs. The suspect was taken to police headquarters to be evaluated by a drug recognition expert.

The 21-year-old is charged with impaired driving and drug possession, and was released pending a future court date.
