The visitation is at Reid's Funeral Home in Leamington from 1pm-5pm on Saturday.
Atkin's sudden passing was announced on Wednesday after he hadn't been seen for a few days, including missing Monday's council meeting.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
The annual Canada Day parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, from Wildwood Park to Kenwick Park.
