Police were called to a disturbance around 10:30pm Friday where they say the neighbours were arguing before the confrontation turned physical.
The suspect fled before police arrived, but was located yesterday morning where the 33-year-old was charged and held pending for a bail hearing.
The victim did not require medical attention.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
