Public Elementary Teachers Poised For Strike Action

Ontario's elementary school teachers plan to take ``central strike action'' in all 32 public school boards next week.

The action, initially, is expected to impact administrative duties like refusing to write report card comments or supervising standardized tests although the union has not confirmed that.

Lambton Kent Elementary Teachers Federation President Ron Rivait says they'll be briefed Wednesday when provincial and local representatives meet.

The public elementary teachers will be in a legal strike position next Monday.

Issues include removing class size language from collective agreements, directing how teachers should spend their prep time and zero wage increases.

There are close to 1000 full time and 500 occasional instructors with the Lambton Kent District School Board.
